To Be or To Become is Kristina Shakht’s debut self-published zine, produced during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020–2021. The project brings together intimate portraits of women and floral imagery, photographed on Polaroid 600, 35mm film, and iPhone, largely in collaboration with the artist’s close circle.
Edited with Liliya Shapran and featuring cover typography by Bren Cukier, the zine resists fixed narrative, instead inhabiting a suspended, interior space shaped by intimacy, uncertainty, and quiet unease.
